Occlusive role
Educational cosmetic writing often describes occlusives as layers that slow water loss. That is a role word, not a medical claim.
Common base words
Petrolatum, beeswax, and plant butters show up on many balm labels. Reading the INCI list is the skill; ranking brands is not.
